Hide Names in Thumbnail View

To disable names while switching to Thumbnail View in Explorer, hold down Shift and switch to Thumbnail View.

Easy way to empty Recycle Bin

Note: This option might work on all versions of XP. You will have to try on your version if it is different than XP Pro. There is a similar tweak as this for Windows 98 and possibly ME. DO NOT USE THE TWEAK FOR WINDOWS 98!! It will screw up the Open With option when right-clicking files.

How would you like the option to be able to empty the Recycle Bin with just a right-click on a drive or folder in My Computer(Windows Explorer)? Here's how.

Copy this info into Notepad and save as a .reg file.

Note: The option will only be highlighted if there are files in the Recycle Bin. This can also be used as a quick check whether you have files in your Recycle Bin

Allow more Simultaneous Downloads in Internet Explorer 6.0

This Tweak increase the the number of maximum downloads to 10.

To change the maximum downloads to 10 open the Registry Editor, follow the next steps:

To open the Registry Editor click on the Start button on your taskbar, then click on Run and type "regedit" and click on OK to start the utility.

Expand HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion/InternetSettings.

Click on the Edit Menu. Inside this menu click New. New will expand. From the New menu choose DWORD-value, and then add the following registry values:

"MaxConnectionsPer1_0Server"=Dword:0000000a

"MaxConnectionsPerServer"=Dword:0000000a

The modifications you made will be in effect after you reboot your PC.

Change Browser Toolbar Background

This tweak customizes the appearance of the Internet Explorer Toolbar XP Professional:

Click Start -> Run -> and type "gpedit.msc".

Click User Configuration -> Windows Setting -> Internet Explorer Maintenance -> Browser User Interface.

Double click on Browser Toolbar Customization.

Click on Customize Toolbar Background Bitmap.

Browse for the new Background.

Reinstall Internet Explorer 6.x

To reinstall the Internet Explorer 6.x, follow the next steps:

Insert the Windows XP CD-ROM.

Click Start -> Run.

Type: rundll32.exe setupapi,InstallHinfSection DefaultInstall 132 c:\windows\inf\ie.inf and click OK.

Change the text in Internet Explorer title bar

To change the text in the Internet Explorer title bar, follow the next steps:

To open the Registry Editor click on the Start button on your taskbar, then click on Run and type "regedit" and click on OK to start the utility.

Expand HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main.

Double click on the key "Window Title" to change the value to whatever you want on the title bar of the Internet Explorer.

Add Copy to Folder and Move to Folder to Explorer Context Menu

The Windows 95 PowerToys has a similar function, the "Send to Folder" option. You can add "Copy to Folder" and "Move to Folder" to the Explorer context menu, so when you right-click a file or folder in Explorer, you have the option to Copy or Move it to another folder.

To add copy and move to folder to context menu, follow the next steps:

1. Open the Registry Editor click on the Start button on your taskbar, then click on Run and type "regedit" and click on OK to start the regedit utility.

2. Expand HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\AllFilesystemObjects\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers.

3. Right-click the "ContextMenuHandlers" entry, and from the menu select New -> Key.

4. Name the new key Copy To.

5. Repeat step 3, but this time for the name (step 4) choose Move To.

6. Change the (Default) string value found in the Copy To key to {C2FBB630-2971-11D1-A18C-00C04FD75D13}.

7. Change the (Default) string value found in the Move To key to {C2FBB631-2971-11D1-A18C-00C04FD75D13}.

8. The modifications you made will be in effect after you reboot your PC.

Change OEM Text

This allows you to place any picture and text so that it will be displayed in the system control panel; without having to change your registry.

Take any bitmap that's about 172 x 172 pixels in size.

Name it Oemlogo.bmp.

Copy it to the \windows\system32 folder.
