I'm gonna contact the Card Manufacturer to request another one, if confirmed the defect I will inform here. Thanks. Response (David) 02/18/2010 11:34 AM Hi Fagner, Thanks for waiting. There is a high probability the card is defective or the PSU is bad. I don't suspect driver is an issue at this point. If you have another PC(assuming the PSU is adequate) to test, I'd try it and see if corruption and system freeze is still reproducible. If yes, you may want to contact the card manufacturer directly and get a replacement. NVIDIA is just a chip supplier so we don't manufacturer graphics cards. Please feel free to let me know if you have further questions or concerns. Best regards, David Customer (Fagner Martins) 02/17/2010 03:24 PM I tried to run batman a few times, when I set Anisotropic Filtering to 16x, sometimes I experience some failures in the game, like many walls coming from everywhere of the screen. If I disable this or set the application to control, it don't happen. In 16x, when the video don't fail, sometimes the computer stucks and the game stops. Customer (Fagner Martins) 02/15/2010 01:28 PM Uploading another msinfo32 zipped. Customer (Fagner Martins) 02/15/2010 01:26 PM I'm sorry to take so long, here is my report: >>>>>MSINFO<<<<< This msinfo log was saved before start any test: [Attachment msinfo32.txt] >>>>>DRIVER TESTS<<<<< With winxp_181.22_whql: I've Installed the driver and tried to run Modern Warfare 2. At first sight the green stains remained, but I didnt saw the vertical lines in the video. I tried to minimize pressing win key and maximize again without pause the game*. When I maximized the game stoped to answer to my commands. I couldnt minimize again, but at least I could take an screenshot, so I restarted the computer: [image 13]* I've installed the driver and tried to run modem Warfare 1. After the brief of the mission the screen turned into different colors. The computer stucked like before (without minimize the screen). I could take a blind print screen like before, so I restarted the computer: [image 14] PS.: In all tries since now the audio never had any problem. With winxp_182.50_whql: I've installed the driver and tried to run Modern Warfare 2. At first sight the green stains remained, but I didnt saw the vertical lines in the video. I tried to minimize pressing win key and maximize again. When I maximized the first time nothing changed. When I maximized the second time the game prompted a xp error (with the option of send or dont send an error report to MS). I've installed the driver and tried to run modem Warfare 1. After the brief of the mission the screen turned into different colors. The computer stucked like before (without minimize the screen). I could take a blind print screen like before: [image 15] PS.: I could finish the process of the game and it returned to the desktop. Sometimes the computer stucks even with the game closed and I need to restart the computer, not in this case. When I tried to uninstall this driver it prompted an error on device manager "this driver is required for windows to start", so I installed the next driver over this already installed one. With winxp_185.85_whql: I've installed the driver and tried to run Modern Warfare 2. At first sight the green stains remained, but I didnt saw the vertical lines in the video. I tried to minimize pressing win key and maximize again. When I maximized nothing changed. I've installed the driver and tried to run modem Warfare 1. After the brief of the mission the screen turned into different colors. I didn't tried a print screen because that was the same issue than before. After all the tests I restored the computer to a restore point before the tests. Notes: 1 - * When I minimize and maximize without "pause" the game, the computer stuck and there's a failure in the video where it shows many colorfull stains, else it can or not crash. It happens with any of the testes drivers. 2 - All tests were made restarting the computer after a sucessfull uninstall of the driver following the correct procedures. 3 - Sometimes when I minimize and maximize the screen and it don't crash, the green stains in the texture of the characteres change the place or disappear. >>>>>GPUZ TESTS<<<<< This is the screenshot without any game loaded: [image 16] While playing Modern Warfare 2 in windowed mode for some minutes (about 3 to 10min.) [image 17] While playing Modern Warfare in full screen mode for some minutes (about 2 to 5min.) [image 18] >>>>>GAME TESTS<<<<< BATMAN: I have tested Batman: Arkham of Asylum Demo from NVidia website using the latest stable driver (I believe is the 186.18). The video worked fine, no green stains, I've minimized and maximized, no problem. Just a wonderfull quality and performance with physix very high. The only problem I experienced is in the sound. He don't play in some scenes with dialogues, where the screen is focusing on the character and where I have no movement (I am not saying the movies, it is the scenes with no input movement). CRYSIS I have testes the Crysis Demo from Nvidia Website using the same driver. The video worked fine until the start game. After that the computer comnpletely stucked, the "numlock" key was turning on/off slowly, like if the computer havent resources to run the game. I was running in the Best resolution I found. Follow screen: [image 19] Translating it is somethign like "The driver nv4_disp stoped to working. Save your work and restart PC to restore all monitor functionalities[...]". So I restarted the computer after that and tried to run the same game based on 1024x780 resolution: ] [image 20] [image 21] I tried to change the game resolution to the native 1680x1050, the computer sctucked, the screen got colorfull and after the screen got blacked. So the game changed automaticaly to the last resolution working (in this case 1024x780). Response (David) 02/09/2010 02:14 PM Hi Fagner, No problem. If your case is closed automatically by our system, you can always reopen it. Best regards, David Customer (Fagner Martins) 02/09/2010 12:23 PM Its is in the middle of the week so it will take some time for I update it. Is there any problem if I test it next to weekend? Response (David) 02/08/2010 02:27 PM Hi Fagner, There is still a 50/50 chances that it could be a driver or hardware issue. Can you try these 3 drivers with COD-1 and COD-2? Please be sure the game has the latest updates. http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp_181.22_whql.html http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp_182.50_whql.html http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp_185.85_whql.html It looks like the cascade game only runs in Vista/Win7 and not supported in XP hence you got the D3D10 error Can you select couple of games(perhaps Batman, or Crysis) from here and see if you can reproduce the failure? http://www.nzone.com/object/nzone_downloads_demos.html Can you send me a screenshot of your GPU with the program below? http://www.techpowerup.com/gpuz/ http://www.webcalculator.net78.net/screenshots/GPU-Z.jpg Is the GPU fan on your card working? What is the temperature reading of your GPU after you finish running your game? GPUz will be able to tell you. http://www.geeks3d.com/public/jegx/200811/radeon-hd-4850-x2-gpu-z-furmark.jpg Can you please send me your system log? Please perform the following steps: 1) Click on the Start button 2) Select Run 3) In the Open field, type in "msinfo32" and then press the OK button 4) This will bring up the Microsoft System Information Utility. Click on File and then Export to save this information to your hard drive. You may give it any name you choose. 5) Once the file has been saved on your hard drive, attach it to this support request so that we may review your system configuration. Thanks, Best regards, -David Customer (Fagner Martins) 02/06/2010 08:29 AM Hi, I tried to install the beta driver. I uninstalled the other version. After the computer restarted I tried to install in security mode. It failed, prompting “an error has been occurred, it will return the last driver and etc.” I have restarted the computed then tried to install in normal mode. Successful. I tried to open call of duty Modern Warfare 2 after open some other programas (Mozilla firefox and email client). The game opened fine. When the game started the 3D game engine (after the introduced cinematics) the screen appeared all distorced. I could see pixels in some parts of the screen like if you zoom it. Half seconds after the screen turned crazy I had to restart the computer. The keyboard and mouse still worked, but the game wasn’t responding. Next time I avoided open the Firefox and email. Started the game. I loaded the resumed game to start without the briefing. It started with no problem, but I saw the character were with some green squared stains in his face and body. I’ve turned around and I saw vertical lines flashing through the screen: http://fagnermartins.com/ss/1.JPG Walking a little bit I found a car: http://fagnermartins.com/ss/2.JPG I minimized the game pressing win key to paste the screen. Then when I get back I saw this: http://fagnermartins.com/ss/3.JPG The vertical lines were flashing everywere… http://fagnermartins.com/ss/4.JPG …along with colorfull quared stains… http://fagnermartins.com/ss/5.JPG Now I tried to run the Call of Duty Modern Warfare (the first version). The same vertical lines but in screenshot I couldn’t get it. I could take some screenshots from the green squared stains: http://fagnermartins.com/ss/6.JPG In death: http://fagnermartins.com/ss/7.JPG Now to the demos The first demo I tried to open were the human head in supersample 2, but it stucked all and I had to restart the computer. After I tried to run the nzd_SmokeSetup, here is the result: http://fagnermartins.com/ss/8.JPG Perfect working, no errors or stains. Then I tried to run Adrianne, everything worked fine, except the wireframe mode that require a lot of processing making the pc to look a little slow and some hidden stains in her body: http://fagnermartins.com/ss/9.JPG I dunno if that red thing in the menu is normal. So I installed and tried to run cascades: http://fagnermartins.com/ss/9.5.JPG Not possible to locate de file d3d10.dll… And I successfully installed the direct 10 when prompted to do so, dun no why this error. So I tried the human head again Supersample Modifier = 1.5, Almost invisible stains in the skin: http://fagnermartins.com/ss/10.JPG Now it becomes more visible: http://fagnermartins.com/ss/11.JPG So I changed the Supersample Modifier to 2 and tried to run it again: http://fagnermartins.com/ss/12.JPG Some colorfull lights around the head. Obviously I couldn’t get screenshot in the times the PC stucked, but it happens sometimes. Before the update to the new driver the stains and the freeze remained. But at least the graphic didn’t distorced. So, I am getting back to the old driver to continue playing (or at leasting trying when it don’t crash). If you want more information, I can try open this demos with the other driver. Regards, Fagner Martins. Response (David) 02/05/2010 05:24 PM Hi Fagner, Thanks for getting a hold of us. Per our plan, lets try the latest 196.34 driver and see if that will fix you game problem. Please feel free to update me with your results as soon as you have a chance. We are closed on Sat. and Sun. so I wouldn't be able to reply to you until Monday(USA time). Thanks. Good luck, Best regards, David Chat Transcript (David) 02/05/2010 05:21 PM [05:01:04 PM] Hi, my name is David. How may I help you? [05:01:18 PM] Fagner Martins: Hi [05:01:25 PM] Fagner Martins: I am wondering if you can help me with an issue [05:01:34 PM] David: Hello Fagner [05:01:34 PM] Fagner Martins: with my graphic card geforce 6900 GT [05:01:41 PM] David: Sure, what kind of issue are you seeing? [05:01:51 PM] Fagner Martins: I will send you the last conversation I had with another guy another day [05:01:57 PM] Fagner Martins: http://www.fagnermartins.com/support_1.htm [05:02:46 PM] Fagner Martins: The instructions passed by him solved some issues. For examples, the vertical colorfull lines do not appear anymore [05:02:56 PM] Fagner Martins: But the green pixels still remains [05:03:21 PM] David: ok, one moment while I review your information. [05:04:52 PM] Fagner Martins: And another thing is happening, sometimes when I open a game and starts playing for some seconds, the computer stucks completely. If I press the win key and try to end the process with the task manager it does, but infortunattely it send a bip and the mouse completely stops. [05:06:08 PM] David: ok, thanks for the additiona data. [05:06:43 PM] David: The green pixels and system freeze could be an indication the card is bad or a power supply issue. [05:06:53 PM] David: What driver are you currently using now? [05:07:34 PM] Fagner Martins: just an additional screenshot: http://www.fagnermartins.com/green_pixels_cod_mw_2.jpg [05:07:48 PM] David: Does your 9600GT card come have an power connector on it? [05:07:51 PM] Fagner Martins: I am using the driver told in the last session [05:08:10 PM] Fagner Martins: winxp_186.18_whql [05:08:12 PM] David: 186.18? [05:08:14 PM] David: ok [05:08:17 PM] Fagner Martins: yup [05:08:23 PM] Fagner Martins: I have installed it [05:08:31 PM] David: Have you try the 196.34 beta driver yet? [05:08:31 PM] Fagner Martins: The vertical lines stoped, but... [05:08:37 PM] Fagner Martins: not yet [05:09:13 PM] Fagner Martins: Does your 9600GT card come have an power connector on it? [05:09:15 PM] Fagner Martins: Yes [05:09:21 PM] Fagner Martins: I have a 750W font [05:09:33 PM] David: From your COD pic, I see the textures have green blocks on it. [05:09:35 PM] Fagner Martins: I dunno how to say "fonte" in english [05:09:39 PM] Fagner Martins: yes [05:09:45 PM] Fagner Martins: it is the green pixels I mean [05:10:27 PM] Fagner Martins: It is not from the game [05:10:29 PM] David: Your 12V rail from the power supply is plugged into the card, right? [05:10:37 PM] Fagner Martins: yes [05:10:55 PM] David: Has your COD and GTA-4 game ever work fine before the problem started? [05:11:33 PM] Fagner Martins: No the problem started since I obtained the board [05:11:45 PM] Fagner Martins: But when I tried first time I though that was a game problem [05:12:04 PM] Fagner Martins: But it happens in the 3 games, so its obviously not a problem in the software [05:12:08 PM] David: Do you have any games that work with no problem? [05:12:19 PM] Fagner Martins: just Lineage 2 [05:14:58 PM] 'Fagner Martins' is currently 'Absent'. Approximately 120 seconds until disconnect. [05:14:58 PM] 'Fagner Martins' is currently 'Active'. [05:15:01 PM] Fagner Martins: just Lineage 2 [05:15:01 PM] Fagner Martins: It is not considered "Hi definition" game [05:15:08 PM] Fagner Martins: wow I have been disconnected [05:15:16 PM] Fagner Martins: Like I was saying It only happens in games that have a PS3 version [05:15:45 PM] David: Hi Fagner, can you still get my message? [05:15:50 PM] Fagner Martins: yes [05:15:57 PM] Fagner Martins: did you received my last messages? [05:16:03 PM] David: yes, I did [05:16:25 PM] David: Since Lineage 2 is working fine, your card may not be defective. [05:16:36 PM] Fagner Martins: Its what I though [05:16:43 PM] David: Can you try this latest driver with those 3 games and let me know the outcome. [05:16:57 PM] David: http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp_196.34_beta.html [05:17:10 PM] Fagner Martins: I can try with 2 COD games because I have no GTA IV anymore [05:17:45 PM] David: Should problem persists, please download several demos from nzone and run it. I'd like to see if any corruption occurs. [05:18:10 PM] David: http://www.nzone.com/object/nzone_downloads_nvidia.html [05:18:25 PM] Fagner Martins: Ok so I do the same steps like the last driver update? [05:18:28 PM] Fagner Martins: No changes right? [05:18:46 PM] David: Please run some of the NVIDIA demos, such as Cascades, Adrainne, Human Head demo [05:19:05 PM] David: Yes, please uninstall the existing driver, reboot the PC and then install the new driver [05:19:21 PM] David: I can open a case for you to keep track of this. [05:19:42 PM] David: When you have the results, please feel free to reply to my email. [05:19:53 PM] Fagner Martins: ok [05:20:00 PM] David: sounds good [05:20:09 PM] David: Anything else I can answer before we hang up? [05:20:31 PM] Fagner Martins: Nothing thanks, but would you send your email? [05:20:46 PM] David: you welcome! [05:20:53 PM] David: yes, I'll send an email shortly. [05:20:57 PM] Fagner Martins: ok [05:20:59 PM] David: [email protected] [05:21:04 PM] David: your emaill addres [05:21:06 PM] Fagner Martins: yes it is the right email [05:21:09 PM] David: ok [05:21:18 PM] David: have a good day [05:21:25 PM] Fagner Martins: thanks bye [05:21:29 PM] David: bye [05:21:30 PM] 'Fagner Martins' disconnected ('Concluded by End-user').
