Wellingthon,

I have seen a lot of problems with the Nforce chipset. Make sure you are running the current motherboard updates for the unit.

I talked with Creative Europe, I tried all the

procedure, in computer devices, computer, I change to

ACPI, I re-install Windows, Drivers, Direct X, Updated

all drivers, Re-install webcam drivers, tried to use

with Netmeeting, Windows Movie Maker, but nothing

solved my problem.....

I deleted Twain32, updated my bios, so, I thought that

I made what it was possible....

I will return this webcam to the store that I bought,

but I would like to know, with possible, because It

was the first that had this problem, I talked to the

mainboard support and they told me that they did not

get to install this webcam in Asus A7N-8X (Nforce2)

or Asus A7A-266 (Ali 266) so it could be a problem

with chipset....I don´t know, I will wait your

replay...

Wellingthon,

The only drivers we have for that camera is what is on the cd that came with your camera. If you can see the pictures you take and download the then your motherboard is fine with the camera. It sounds like when you did the updates that there was one that didnt get downloaded i would check again. If you still would like a another cd then you may call our customer service at 1-800-998-1000 they can order you one.

Did you receive any complain about mainboard with

chipset Ali or Nvidia?

I tried to do this too, but nothing change, I only

erase the cam memory, can you send me the old drivers

from this webcam, because I can'tt download from the

site, because there isn't any drive avaliable, I only

can see image when I install the drivers for the first

time....

I'm using USB 2.0, but there is not any other device

in my computer, I'm nothing sharing the irq....

I saw the driver and computer device and it is

everything all right, maybe it was a driver troble....

Wellingthon,

USB 2.0 ports should work fine with your PC-CAM. They will default back to USB 1.1 mode when you have a USB 1.1 device attached.

Please try the following:

1. Try unplugging all other USB devices from the system.

2. If you're using a hub, try connecting the Webcam directly to the onboard USB and vice versa.

3. Try a hardware reset, outlined below.

a. Power the unit on by holding the on button down.

b. Hold down the Mode button for about three seconds. The camera should beep.

c. With the Mode button still held down, hold down the Shutter button for three seconds, and the memory will be cleared.

I update all my drivers, I got the last realese from

nvidia to nforce, to geforce2, the last service pack

to windows xp, to direct x, but, nothing solve my

problem, It´s very strange, because I can download the

pictures from the camera, but I can work as webcam...

I upgrade the bios to the last version 1003, do you

know if my mainboard is compatible with this webcam,

because I´m using USB 2.0 but in bios is configurated

as 1.1 and 2.0, I change to 1.1, but the same trouble,

I instal the driver, when I finish I see the image,

It´s the only time, because after this, I can see the

image anymore....

My mainboard is an Asus A7N-8X with bios 1003, my

processor is an Athlon XP 2000+, my memory is a nanya

512 PC2100, my adapthor is GeForce 2 64MB MX 400 and

my HD is a Quantum Fireball 20LCT ATA100....

Please could you send new drivers for me, because It

can be a bug in the old drivers....

Wellingthon,

Do you have any service packs loaded on your computer, I suggest going to www.microsoft.com and download and install the service packs for windows xp, this should help with this problem.

Response from Customer:   4/27/2003 2:09:32 AM

I tried msconfig, the same error, a black window, when

I install the drivers, I saw the image when the camera

had been configurated, then I boot the computer when I

started the PC Cam Center, nothing, only a black

window, but in the status, the camera was inicialized.

If I used as camera unplugged than I plugged the web

cam, I can download the images to computer, but when I

use as webcam, nothing....

I also update bios to last revision 1003 and

motherboard drivers...

I tested in another computer and the webcam worked...

I think that my motherboard and this webcam is not

compatible because I called the support and they

report me the same trouble. I heard from another users

the same trouble, I tried another drivers, in english

and portuguese, but nothing again, the same error, I

re-install the driver and I saw the image, but when I

boot and start, nothing, I only have until tomorrow to

return this webcam to the seller, so if I don´t get

the solution until tomorrow....

What can I do? Please, help me, because I´m thinking

that It´s a bug in driver because I heard the

something in a forum, but the chipset of the

motherboard was an Ali, he told me that solve this

trouble instaling older drivers, but there is not any

one to re-instal in Creative site....

Response from Creative:  4/26/2003 6:04:46 PM

Wellingthon,

This problem can be caused by not having your motherboard updates installed. Make sure you have all of the current BIOS updates and motherboard chipset drivers downloaded and installed in your system. This can clear up many problems by itself. You will also want to make sure that the usb controller is not sharing IRQs or I/O ranges with any other devices.

I would also recommend you close all background programs to make sure that nothing is interfering.

1. Click START / RUN / Type MSCONFIG and press ENTER.

2. Insert a check to the left of SELECTIVE STARTUP and deselect 'LOAD STARTUP ITEMS'.

3. Click OK and reboot when prompted.

Is it possible to try this camera on another computer?
