Instalação de modem

Olá pessoal...

Instalei o CL7 no meu pc... Faz tempo q tenho ele.

Mas o problema, é q eu não consigo instalar nada nele...

Por exemplo:

Peguei na Web o KDE3.1*.rpm mas não sei instalar. (Não é não sei instalar, é q instalo, vai até o 100%, mas depois não acontece nada....(é mesmo q não instalar)

Meu modem... por mais q tentei, não consigo instalar, o driver dele é pctel-0.9.3.tar.gz. Fui até um ponto ( o do Make) mas não consigo continuar (make no que? em q arquivo) (vou colocar o arquivo instal (txt) abaixo desta mensagem, caso quiser ler...)

O 3º item, ./configure... tá meio complicado...rssss  

Meu modem é o pctel.

O CL nem consegue detectar meu modem. [isso realmente é muito ruim]

Caso alguem poder me ajudar, pelo menos e instalar o meu modem e/ou o kde3.1 ficarei muito agradecido por sua atenção dispensada...

Alguem sabe onde eu posso arrumar uma apostila/tutorial (boa) para linux (CL)?

Não sou um BIOS (Burro Ignorante Operando Sistema) no Windows, acho q não vou ter muita dificuldade Com o tio Linux..rssss, mas o problema é começar...

     PCTEL Linux PCI driver, version 0.9.2

Description

This package contains the PCTEL driver for various PCTEL modems for linux.

It is meant for kernel 2.4.x, up to 2.4.18 so far.

Installation

------------

0) Unpack the tarball by typing "tar zxvf pctel-0.9.2.tar.gz"

1) Go into that directory by typing "cd pctel-0.9.2"

2) Find out what chipset you have in your board:

3) ./configure

Options:

--with-hal=hal

Select one of: pct789, cm8738, i810, sis, via686a

--with-kernel-includes=/path/to/my/kernel-sources/include

If you don't have your kernel sources at /usr/src/linux, specifiy

your includes

4) Compile the modules by typing "make"

5) If everything went fine, get root by typing "su"

7) Install the drivers by typing "make install"

8) You are now ready to use your modules.

 Type "insmod pctel" and "insmod ptserial".

You should see in your logs ("tail /var/log/messages") something like:

May 16 23:28:17 suba kernel: PCTel initialization. Country code is 2.

May 16 23:28:17 suba kernel: PCTel device[00:11.0](0x88) found "PCTel Inc HSP MicroModem 56 (rev 01)" IOBASE 0xe800 IRQ 9.

May 16 23:28:17 suba kernel: PCTel driver version 0.9.2 [5.05c-4.27.215 (09-14-2001)]] (PCT789) (2001-08-18) with MANY_PORTS SHARE_IRQ SERIAL_PCI enabled.

May 16 23:28:17 suba kernel: PCTel driver built on [Linux 2.4.8 i686 unknown] with [2.95.3].

May 16 23:28:17 suba kernel: ttyS15 at 0xe800 (irq = 9) is a PCtel

Notes:

You can always uninstall the modules by typing "make uninstall". If you

need to recompile the modules, "make clean" and "make" are your friends.

Make make... hehehe... mais nada... entra no diretório base, onde tiver um arquivo Makefile, ou makefile e digita make... pronto... depois su, digita a senha do root e make install...

Pra usar o make e outros comando parecidos você tem que ter instalado alguns compiladores... você instalou isto?

Tenho uma apostila básica na net, só não tem muita coisa nesta parte de isntalação...

eu to com esse mesmo problema...quando eu dou o comando ./configure, aparece uma mensagem falando de compilador de C... onde eu consigo esse compilador??

agradeço qualquer ajuda...

::ux:: eu não consegui fazer o meu modem (hsp 56 micromodem pci) funcionar com esses drivers... nunca vi algum ser vivente tambem fazer o mesmo em kernel 2.4... tive voltar pro 2.2... funciona direitinho.. driver em www.jcmp3.org

eu tenho o 2.4...onde eu posso arrumar o 2.2??

não aguento mais ficar sem modem...tenho que ir para o Windows toda vez que eu for acessar a net..
